Telephone service is being disrupted in part of New Hampshire and technicians are trying to pinpoint what is causing the problem and get a handle on how widespread it is.

Spokeswoman Jill Wurm said a fiber cable burned in Canterbury, affecting a Laconia switching station and long distance service from Canterbury and Laconia to the north.

Thursday night's storm and flooding in New Hampshire caused millions of dollars of damage and could take weeks to clean up.
